Applying for a fuelGenie account
- How do I apply for a fuelGenie account?
You can go to our home page and click ‘Apply’ to go through our simple and secure online application. If you are having difficulties with this please call us on 0345 371 2490 or email at Enquiries@fuelgenie.co.uk and we will be able to assist.
- Can I order a fuelGenie card for personal use?
Unfortunately no. fuelGenie is for business use only.
- Are there any minimum requirements to apply for a fuelGenie card?
No! You can apply for a fuelGenie card if your business has 1 vehicle or if you operate on a larger scale and have 1000s of vehicles.
- What is the approval criteria for fuelGenie?
We use an approved credit agency to undertake credit checks. If you are a limited company the credit checks are based on account information filed at companies house (You can supply us with recent accounts if not yet filed or P&L sheet) For non-limited companies or sole traders the credit check is run on the individual.
-Please note that Schools, Councils and Charities are not credit checked, but proof of legitimacy will be required.
- How many cards can I add to my account?
You can add unlimited cards to your account free of charge!
- How does my credit limit work?
You enter the monetary value that your business uses on fuel each month. This limit is an ‘account’ limit so irrespective of how many cards you have this is your credit limit for the month across all cards. If you need more flexible options or want to increase your limit please call us on 0345 371 2490 or email at email@example.com.
- How do I know if I have obtained my requested credit limit?
Once you have been accepted you will be notified via email. You may call us at this point to confirm your account limit. Alternatively you will be notified of your account limit in your welcome letter (Will be with you 3-5 days after acceptance email). If you are not satisfied with your given limit please do contact us to discuss your options at 0345 371 2490 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Once my account has been accepted how long will it be until I receive my cards and start using them?
You will receive your welcome pack with the cards you have added to your application within 3-5 working days of receiving your acceptance email. Also in your welcome letter you will find instructions on how to register your online ‘Manage my account’. Once you have registered your account you can start using your cards!
- Who can amend and place restrictions on the account?
Only the account holder is able to make changes and place restrictions on the cards. The account holder may add card users to have a limit view of their own card details but they will not be able to make any amendments or see account details.
- With fuelGenie what price do I pay for the fuel we use?
You only pay the pump price shown at the forecourt at the time of refuelling. This means that you always benefit from competitively priced fuel, which is on average 3ppl* cheaper.

- Are there any set up fees, running costs or transaction charges?
There are no set up fees or running costs for fuelGenie nor do we charge transaction fees. You will only pay for the fuel you use and not a penny more!
- What is ‘Manage my account’?
Manage my account is your free online reporting tool! From here you can run usage and VAT reports. You are also able to view the previous 12 months invoices, amend cards (issue new cards, replace and cancel cards). In addition you can also make interim payments to your account 24/7!
- Is supermarket fuel quality different to other fuel retailers?
All fuel no matter where you fill up is purchased from the same refineries. All supermarket fuel complies with the industry standards. For more detailed information on fuel quality please refer to the individual supermarkets.
- Are fuelGenie cards linked to a driver or vehicle?
A fuelGenie card can be linked to a driver and or a vehicle. You can also have a pool card. We are flexible so you can choose whatever suits your business needs.
- How often will I be invoiced and how is the payment taken?
You will be invoiced 2nd of every month and a DD will be taken 12th of every month. We are also able to set your account up to ‘twice monthly’ in this instance you would be Invoiced as above and again invoiced the 15th of every month and DD taken 27th of every month.
- Will I receive any discount or money off fuel?
No, with fuelGenie you will pay the pump price only. We do not offer money off fuel, but on average you do save over 3ppl* (*Data supplied by our partners Track Compare)
- Can I use fuelGenie for purchases other than petrol and diesel?
Individual cards can be configured at the point of ordering to suit your business needs and preferences. You can use your fuelGenie card to purchase petrol, diesel, LPG (where available) and car washes.

The average 3.4 pence per litre saving message is based on the difference between the published Government Weekly road fuel prices and the price paid per litre of diesel by fuelGenie customers for the comparable period. Over a 10 week period (05.02.18 – 15.04.18) fuelGenie customers buying diesel at Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's saved an average of 3.4 pence per litre when compared to the Government Weekly road fuel prices https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/oil-and-petroleum-products-weekly-statistics. fuelGenie cards can only be used at participating Tesco and Morrisons forecourts. fuelGenie credit facilities are subject to status and applications may be declined. Supermarket loyalty points can only be earned by individuals using their own loyalty cards at the point of purchase.
- Where can I use fuelGenie?
fuelGenie is accepted at all Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's in the UK and Northern Ireland. This also includes Tesco Express where the fuel is ESSO.
- Can I collect supermarket loyalty points in conjunction with fuelGenie?
You are able to collect Tesco Club card points at Tesco filling stations and also at Tesco express where the fuel is ESSO. You can collect More points on fuel with the Morrisons Match & More card when refuelling at Morrisons’ forecourts. When refuelling at Sainsbury's forecourts you can collect Nectar points.
- How does my account credit limit work?
Your month account limit is the maximum amount of spend you have for fuel each month irrespective of the number of cards you have. You will not be able to exceed this credit limit. If your credit limit is reached you will not be able to make further payments with your cards. - What happens if I reach my credit limit before the end of the month?
If you reach your credit limit you have several available options. You can make an interim payment via your ‘Manage My Account’ area or contact us to discuss a credit increase and twice monthly on 0345 371 2490 (open Monday to Thursday 09.00 to 17.30, Friday 09.00 to 17.00) or email at email@example.com.
- Can I pay my invoice online?

- What happens if my fuelGenie Card gets declined?
If the fuelGenie card is declined at a participating petrol fuel station, the customer may return later in the day and try to make a payment again using the fuelGenie card. This must be done BEFORE midnight on the same day. If it is still declined, an alternative payment method will need to be used and the customer should inform fuelGenie on 0345 371 2490

- My Direct debit details have changed, how do I update my fuelGenie account?

- My credit limit is not sufficient for my business needs, Can I have this increased?

- My business trading style has changed, what do I need to do?

- I’m thinking of closing my fuelGenie account, how do I do this?
