Fleet of vans lined up

26/04/2017

The Commercial Vehicle Show is the largest road freight transport, distribution and logistics event in the country. Over 21,000 visitors attend, made up of fleet owners, senior managers, engineers and suppliers.

The Commercial Vehicle Show takes place at the NEC Birmingham from April 25-27th and provides the ultimate showcase for products and services in the sector.

BT Fleet will be showcasing its technology and innovation at the Show. Smart phone apps, online portal enhancements and their exciting Connected Vehicle solution will be among the developments showcased at the event.

The Daily Vehicle Check app is the first app to be launched by BT Fleet and is designed to give fleet drivers a paperless, simple and reliable means of logging their vehicle checks electronically, capturing any defects on a live basis.

Visitors to BT Fleet’s stand will also be able to see live demonstrations of their newly launched online booking management system and management information system.

A vision of the connected vehicle with mobile SMR capability will be shown, too. This extension has been made possible via the company’s acquisition of SEV.

Henry Brace, managing director of BT Fleet, said: “The CV Show is one of the most important events on the operational fleet calendar and a valuable opportunity for us to meet with customers and prospects to demonstrate and discuss all that’s new within BT Fleet. Our ambition is to deliver innovation through technology that helps our customers turn operational challenge into competitive advantage."

Hubio Fleet will also be exhibiting at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show with telematics experts on hand to talk to fleet managers about safer and more efficient ways to monitor their drivers.

Two trackers are available – an OBD plugin that plugs directly into a vehicle’s on-board diagnostics port (OBD port) and a larger black box that is professionally fitted and hidden out of sight.

Data from both devices is transmitted over the mobile phone network and users can then see exactly where their drivers are in real-time using a dashboard accessed through any web-enabled device.

Companies using Hubio Fleet have already benefited from safer drivers and generated fuel cost savings of 15%.

Managing Director, Richard Allen of Skilled Labour Services commented, “What I really like about Hubio Fleet is being able to see the whereabouts of the total fleet at a glance. I can cross check each van’s total mileage and fuel bill. Hubio Fleet has also let me monitor out of hours use of the vans, so right away we can see which of our drivers are using them for private mileage.”

“In the past we didn’t have this insight, but now that we do, we are saving around £600 a month off our fuel bill. That more than covers the on-going costs of the Hubio Fleet platform.”

Last but not least, and making its first public appearance in the UK, is the new Crafter from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Economical, functional and reliable, the Crafter is extremely fuel efficient on long trips and urban traffic as well as being packed full of safety technology similar to those found in the Transporter.
